Nowadays, security departments deploy huge number of surveillance cameras to watch wider areas closely 24 hours a day. IP technology allows reliable, scalable, and open surveillance systems. However, video data is increasing, one person could only watch a minimum amount of video data. Intelligent Video works 24 hours in a day without stopping, increasing surveillance effectiveness and accuracy.
Intelligent Video is highly useful for surveillance and business. But it is expensive and complex due to need dedicated software and high-performance servers. Panasonic now offers the easy-to-deploy and cost-effective Intelligent Video solution depending on its proven image processing system and network cameras made up with high-performance processors.
How Intelligent Video Technology Works?
VMD (Video motion Detection) is the prevalent and basic technology in the security industry. This technology compares the number of images in the video stream, recognizing the moving foreground objects and static background. VMD catches all motions that is the difference between images. However this instantaneously presents a weakness. The technology detects wind-whipped streamers and reflected light as moving objects. Panasonic Intelligent Video system has created huge progress in extracting information such as size, position, staying time, and moving direction from the detected objects.
System Configuration
There are three system configurations of IV Technology:
1. Camera-based Systems
Network cameras explores images and send alarms to network operators depending on pre-configured alert rules. This type of systems do not need high-performance central servers, creating the system more reliable, scalable, and cost-effective. Face detection, Auto tracking, and Panasonic i-VMD (Intelligent Video Motion Detection) use camera-based system configurations.
2. Server-based Systems
Server-based systems allows more complex analysis of images. All images which are captured by cameras are forward to a centralized server that analyzes them with higher processing power, higher-speed database access, more sophisticated software, and more memory.
3. Hybrid Systems
Hybrid systems integrates server-based systems with camera-based systems, significantly reducing network and server overloads. These systems enables a smaller systems to run IV applications. When a system detects anyone who go by the cameras, it compares each captured image with saved photos in a database. The Panasonic face detection system uses hybrid system configuration.
Panasonic’s Camera-based Intelligent Video
Panasonic launched UniPhier high-performance chipset in which the company combines its video and audio processing technology. The chipset include a high-performance AV processor and a high-speed CPU in a single chip and offers high-quality audio & video, less power consumption, secure features, and real-time processing. Panasonic network cameras are prepared with the UniPhier platform.
Panasonic’s i-VMD has six video features:
An i-VMD extracts information like size, position, staying time, and moving direction from the moving object detected and recognizes its behavior.
It detects people who are loitering in front of the camera. When this camera detects the moving objects in its view, then the camera starts tracing each one of them. However, when they loiter there for a definite period of time, the camera sends an alarm to the network operators and highlight them through frames. Though, this assists the operators speedily identify whom the camera is tracing.
Direction Detection detects cars, people or moving objects which go the wrong direction such as the wrong way on a street. However, when this camera detects moving objects in its view, the camera starts tracing the movement and assesses the direction objects are moving.
Scene Change Detection camera detects tampering in the camera view. When this camera detects tampering or interference such as changing a camera direction, spraying on a camera vault, covering a camera with a cloth, then the camera sends an alarm to the network operators.
Object detection traces objects disappearing which should be present or something left behind which should not be there. When a network camera continuously keeps watching on pre-defined areas, it compares current footage with the past footage. When a removed objects is detected, the camera sends an alarm notification to the operators and place object with frame.
This is an Intelligent Video feature integrated with PTZ control and traditional video motion detection, running on Panasonic PTZ network control cameras. However, when a network camera detects a moving object, the camera automatically starts tilting, zooming, and panning, and keeps the moving object displayed in the center of the display. The network camera traces the moving object till the target passes from its sight. However, when the target left its sight, another camera starts to use Panasonic inter-camera notification protocol to initiate the tracking.
Conclusion
With high-definition and IP video technology progress, IV will make your video surveillance system smarter. As mentioned in this whitepaper, this progress will improve the efficiency and quality of your video surveillance. However, it will also enhance the competitive advantage to your business. Panasonic intelligent video technology provides cost-effective and easy-to-use solutions.
